Here is Joy's poor ankle. She was jumping on a trampoline at a friend's house and "came down wrong" on her foot. By the time I got there she looked like this. There are torn ligaments, dislocated bones, and possibly a fracture of the fibula. Since the fracture is near a growth plate it is hard for them to tell. Because of this they told us to go to an orthopedic doctor Monday. We are anxious to see what he says because she is scheduled to go on a school trip Friday to Washington, DC and New York City. She will be heartbroken if she does not get to go. Please say a prayer for us. I will let you know what we find out.
Julie
That looks very painful, I'm saying a prayer for you now Joy. Hope it heals quickly!!
ReplyDeleteOh dear I'm so sorry. Oh yes absolutely you need to see an orthopedic surgeon.
ReplyDeleteMy GD#2 broke her arm shortly after Christmas in 2 places also the growth plate. She may need additional surgeries as she grows.
Of course, her injury didn't look anything like your Joy's.
Oh the poor darling that looks sooo painful give her my love. will pray for speedy healing and not too much disapointment about her camp I just dont see her being able to go poor kid
ReplyDeletePrayers from the end of the earth going up for Joy... I do hope you get good news.

I have been through this with my son so I can really empathize with what you're going through. He fractured his arm in several places and affected the growth plates also. He did just fine and I'll be wishing the same for your Joy and you. Take good care of each other.
ReplyDeleteOH OUCH!!! wow,, this looks like something serious,, but I'm no doctor so what do I know!
ReplyDeleteI'll keep my fingers crossed that she can still go on her trip.. and prayers, too.

*GASP!*
ReplyDeleteOh Julie......
Oh Joy, Joy, Joy. My heart dropped and my body cringed when I saw that picture. I can only imagine that Joy must have been dosed with some serious pain killers, otherwise if I were her, I would have been knocking that camera right out of my mother's hands!
Here's hoping that news is acceptable come Monday after speaking with a specialist.
I am so sad to her about joy. having a fun day that turn into a day at the hospital and a long recovery. I do hope that joy can go on her trip. But I dont think it will happen .Love to Joy and all the family. Tell her to keep her chin up. I will be thinking of you joy ...

We're with you all. Soon won't be looking all bumpy.
ReplyDeleteLove and prayers from Down Under.
OUCH......big time, take good care, my thoughts and prayers are with you all......
ReplyDeleteOh my, I am so sorry to see her poor little mangled ankle. Kids do heal fast -- but that just looks like it must REALLY hurt. I do hope you can make the DC trip work out. I'm sure they could take her in a wheelchair if the delay wouldn't cause some sort of further damage. My sister went through a series of ankle surgies over a nasty growth plate break when she was 18, it all worked out in the end though. I'll be sending good thoughts your way.
ReplyDeleteThat doesn't look good, hope you have positive news by now. I will be sending good thoughts your way.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about Joy's ankle - hope it isn't as bad as it looks and she makes a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteFor everything there is a season, and I would suggest it's not the season to go on the trip. That looks REALLY serious! Poor thing!
ReplyDeleteOuch! That hurts to look at....hope she is doing well.
ReplyDeleteOh boy, that looks horrible!!! I hope the dr visit went well today.
