Happy New Year!

I would like to wish my readers a Happy New Year. I hope that 2009 will bring us luck, happiness, prosperity, and good health.
Today I cannot do laundry (will wash all the luck away for the whole year), and I must eat black eyed peas (good luck for the year), and collard greens (lots of money for this year.) I have baked a ham in my crock pot overnight to take to my mom's house. She has the black eyed peas, collards, potato salad, and a cake.
Do you have any traditions for New Years Day?
Julie

Happy New Year Julie! Wishing you the same, dear.

Sounds like a great dinner ahead :)

We don't have any traditions really. We stayed up last night and watched the ball drop. After Thanksgiving and Christmas, I'm usually partied out lol!

Have a blessed evening with your family,
Sharon

Happy New Year. No traditions to go with the ringing of the new year here. Just a quiet day at home. Enjoy your festivities.

Happy New Year to you. I never used to have a new year tradition until about 20 years ago. we eat pork.. most of the time a pork roast with saurkraut and mashed potatoes. I know the cabbage has something to do with prosperity and the pork for future harvest.. I also do not take my Chrismas tree down until after New years day.have a great day.

Happy New Year to you! The past few years I have spent sewing on New Year's Day. Hubby doesn't watch football so I sew and he either naps or surfs the net in the studio where I sew. At least we are together. :)

Hi Julie, Happy New Year! We don't really have any traditions in our household... unless you count trying to get settled into a new house, that is becoming quite a tradition... All of the best for the New Year. Katie

I've actually gained more traditions now that we've moved back to Hawaii. The funny thing is I purposely DID the laundry so that we would be all clean and ready for the new year.
