Pincushion Attempt

I decided to try making May Britt's pincushion. When done right it is so cute. Of course, I did it wrong! Her tutorial is here. As you can see, mine looks like a mini-hassock. It is still cute, and my kids like to toss it around the room like a ball.
I have been meaning to do it again. Now that I have made one, I know what my error was, and I can make one the right way.
I have been working in my yard most mornings since school is out. I have done a lot, but have so much still to do. I spend the rest of the day recovering from the heat, but at least I have a feeling of accomplishment. Inside, I have been working on replacing my heavy, dusty drapes with light, easy-to-clean curtains. It feels so much better to have all these dusty drapes out of the house. I will never, ever have drapes again. Ugh...

Even if it doesn't look like the pattern, it is still a cute little pin cushion. Are you stuffing it with sand or polyfill? I'm glad you are enjoying your yard work. At least it is good excercise.

A hassock? LOL! Very, very cute, even if it's not exactly what you were going for.

(LOVE the fabric! LOL!)

Terrific looking pin cushion. I'm so glad you got a lot done today. It's such a nice feeling, isn't it?

The greatest thing about creativity/art is, it is impossible to make a mistake - something is always created. You have inspired me to have a go at it, thanks.

Julie;

Your pin cushion is really cute. My daughter would use it as a "hacky sak"..she and a freind play with something similar and the dog always steals it!

Sounds like you have been getting a work out with all your chores and you must be so proud of yourself...I always am when I do something that I have been dying to do.

Hard to believe it is hot where you are! It has been a cold weekend with rain and hail here! Love the pincushions! It's so nice to be able to wash your soft furnishings. I recently bought couches with slipcovers I can wash. Boy do they get dirty! And then I can wash them!!!
