The Block Scrambler

Here is the infamous "Block Scrambler." I like to lay out my blocks on my bed when I am working with them, even though I do have a design wall. Cabalito insists on jumping up and walking around on the blocks the minute I start laying them out. Soon they have a somewhat scrambled appearance! I know he thinks he is helping me and fancies himself to be quite the quilt designer. He seems to be doing a pretty good job here. I am pretty sure I will do the on-point setting for this quilt, even though this picture depicts a straight set. I love the wild colors and can't wait to have a complete quilt. I think I am going to do the "quilting in sections" method with this quilt. I would love to have it done, done by the end of my summer break. Unfortunately I have been sidetracked doing another scrappy bargello for my mom. It all depends on how much help I receive from the Block Scrambler!

First, Cabalito is CUTE! What kind of dog is he? (Feel free to email off-site)

Second, it's been awhile since I've been to your site, and I browsed through your page of posts since about the last day of school. I LOVE the No Child Left Behind "sarcasm." I didn't realize you taught.....what do you teach?

Third, IMO-my preference of layout is the straight setting---I like how a "diagonal-irish-chainish" appearance occurs with the straight setting vs. the on-point. BUT, regardless, I love your colors. I've already sewn my together, BUT your "quilting-in-sections" comment got my mind whirring. I could easily remove one of my seams to do this. However, I don't have any literature on how to bring the pieces back together once the quilting is done. Do you have any tips? Suggestions? Any sites that nicely explain this procedure? THANKS

Thanks for visiting my blog and for the comments on the baby birds. I think they are mockingbirds too, but unfortunately, we have been gone, and when we got back they were gone. The nest is there, so hopefully, mama moved them. Love your little 'block scrambler', I'm sure he has good taste. The quilt is looking good.
