Beach Picture Quilt

I used to have a sister-in-law that lived in Naples, Florida. She hinted that she wanted a wall hanging like this one that she saw in a quilt shop. I made it for her. She hung it in her house for a few months, then took it down, putting it in storage, because she redecorated. I had to ask her to take it out of storage so I could photograph it. It is one of the big reasons that I don't give many quilts away. On the other hand, the quilts that I have made for friends who were dealing with serious illness are cherished. One person even had his quilt instead of a floral spray on his casket when he died. That was touching. Those are the kinds of quilts I like to give away.

Gosh what a lot of work to be put away I'd have been very unpleased :( to say the least, it looks great .
I'm humming and haing about giving the last quilt I put on my blog away sort of for the same reason.

Wow! That is an amazing quilt. You must have worked for months on it. My girlfriend made a quilt out of my husband's work ties when he retired. It's been on display in Illinois and here. Everybody always comments on how awesome it is. I just hope the sun doesn't fade it, even though we have it hanging on an interior wall. Perhaps your sister-in-law was trying to preserve it? It's possible.

I don't know Kay, she told me she just wanted to redecorate. She is a very sweet person, just doesn't appreciate quilts like I do. LOL

I love it. Check for it at her next garage sale and buy it back, LOL! That's the crapper about giving away your work. When you give it, you have to let it go and hope the other person knows there's a little piece of your heart stitched in those little seams. Live and learn.
Next time someone tells you they would like a quilt to decorate their home send them a link to Poeetry Barn Home, they have lots of them, hahaha

This quilt is awesome, too bad it is put away. Maybe you should ask her if you can borrow it so that you can photograph it in better lighting and then forget to give it back!

It's a beautiful quilt and hopefully she will find another place for it. Maybe you could borrow it back for awhile. Doesn't look like there are many colors it doesn't have, it would be lovely on a mini quilt wall.
