Cleaning Day

With Thanksgiving only a week away I had to get busy with my house. My sister came over and we worked all day long on decluttering my house. We have a lady coming in to clean Monday and I had to make it so that she could actually get to the surfaces to dust and mop. I dread it every year but it feels so good to get things clean. I am always amazed at how much sewing stuff has migrated upstairs.
The menu is planned and the turkey has been purchased. It is in the freezer right now. Of course, I have lots of other groceries to buy to get ready. I look forward to the cooking part, it is the cleaning part that is not so fun. I hope to update you as I go along. Sorry no pictures for this post, I just wanted to post to make up for my lack of posts last week. :-D

Ah, the fun of having company. As painful as it is, it feels so good to have everything clean at the same time. Sometimes people coming over is the little kick in the pants we all need. I'm sure they won't worry though, if everything isn't Martha Stewart worthy.

i know what you mean to have to get the house clean and ready for the gathering on thanksgiving. or any holiday really. it's always a big fuss but so worth it. the house get spiffed up for a change and having a houseful is what it's all about. i have to say this year though, i am not hosting and i am enjoying the freedom from the stresses you are facing. lol. have a great holiday.

I'm having to plan for my Thanksgiving also. I love the format for your blog with the turkeys on the side. This is so cool!

I was feeling like as far as cleaning went the people coming were casual housekeepers, and so I didn't need to do anything, then yesterday I invited my DH's sister and her family, and she keeps everything very nice. Now I need to do a little spiffing up. I have a fairly small house (1550 sq ft) and we will be having 25-27 people, so there will be tables and people all over the place so I don't know if anything will even show, lol. I like everyone to have a place to sit, so I will have 3 permanent tables (including the back porch) and 3 temporary tables set up.

It will be wonderful when it's all ready and your guests arrive! I love all the menu planning etc with an "event" like this! Hope you have a wonderful thanksgiving!
